Unboxing: The Reader Daily Edition

author Sukhjit posted 11/18/2009

The Reader Daily Edition is available for presale today! Here's an unboxing video to give you a closer look at the eReader many of you have been asking about!

Some of my favorite things about the Reader Daily Edition:

It has a touch screen display that has a paper like look.

• You can read in both portrait and landscape more. Landscape lets you read 2 pages side by side.

You can search, highlight, make notes and bookmark on the page.

There is a built in English dictionary, perfect for quickly looking up a word mid-read.

You can store tons of books on it and with the expansion slots… even more.

Wireless 3G connectivity to Sony's eBook store where you will be able to download some newspapers and magazines in addition to books.

Works great on Mac and PC.

Read more about the Reader Daily Edition at SonyStyle.com. We've also created Words Move Me, Sony's online destination for book lovers. I need to put my order in for a Daily Edition. Let me know if you get one too!

so I pre-ordered the wonderfully advertised Daily Edition for my daughter for Christmas. What I recieved was a ten dollar gift card. Nice $400 Christmas gift with at IOU for a reader at some distant time that we may or may not have by mid to late January. Thanks so much.

Exported highlights will show only 100 characters. So if you have highlighted two or three sentences you can only see a small portion of what you have highlighted when it is exported to a Rich Text formated file which can be opened in Microsoft Word. People looking to use ereaders professionally don't want to have to retype highlighted material and we want to be able to cite what we have highlighted and have a page number for our reference. Ebooks need to have corresponding page numbers to hard copies. Is anybody listening? I am aware that publishers and authors are concerned about books being illegally copied and distributed. Come up with a solution soon!

To search in all books would be pretty usefull in various scenarious when you store "research" books on the e-reader. For example programming books. This would be very useful. Or for students who have various books about a single topic.

Zane and Me, thanks for the comment. Appreciate that you stopped by. Hey "Me" I've never tried to search all books at once so I'm not sure if that is a possibility.. can you give me an example of why you'd use that option. I'll touch base with the Reader team and report back what I find out. Tack care! --sukhjit
